When It Rains…

Here’s a quick update from somewhere nice and warm! Thought I’d stop in for a brief catch up – life has been so crazy busy lately, but I’m not complaining.

The publishing world works in funny ways -what I’ve learned in the past ten or so years, is that one must just keep at it, keep going, keep writing, solely for the love of it. Like anything else in life, you’re juggling all these little balls up in the air.  In the very rare occasion that they land, you are grateful. Most times, they never do.  The trick is to have as many balls in the air as you can. Having all these possibilities at the tip of your fingers helps you not to dwell on those that don’t work out.  

The rain started coming down for me in 2024. That’s 11 years after I self-published my first book.

If you all recall, I partnered with Rakuten Kobo for my Ebook, Somewhere Along the Way, which released in September of 2024. It was a wild and wonderful journey for me – the Kobo team was kind and gracious and very organized!  We enjoyed working together so much, that they’ve asked me to write another Kobo Original!

A few weeks after Somewhere’s release, I was blessed with a deal from Open Road Integrated Media for the audiobook and paperback versions of this story, with an original publish date of February 11. Since then, Hollywood has expressed an interest in this book (OMG). They’ve asked for one teeny weeny change.

And of course, I am making that change!

Which only means that we will need to delay our paperback release until May 6, 2025. Just in time for Mental Health Month and Mother’s Day. All I know is that this change…wow. It will be worth the wait.

In other news, One Day Like The Rain, which is a story about first loves and second loves set in locations like New York and Thailand and Chicago, is completed and out on submission. We don’t want to jinx anything yet, but suffice it to say that we are very close to good news on that front. Last but not least, my WIP named Match Made in Paris will be finished this year. I am also working on the next installment of the From Kona with Love series with my co-author Kristoffer Polaha as soon as publishing schedules align.

I know many of you have been asking about our (yours and mine) favorite book, In This Life. We’re still working very hard to get it in the hands of the right people.

I have also partnered with a Production studio to bring one of my other titles to life. Too long to explain, but we’re hoping to put out a press release soon.

Whew. So much going on!  And for this I have to thank my agent, Italia Gandolfo. She’s believed in my work all these years, and has exerted tireless efforts to get my stories out there.

In the meantime, I continue to love my day job as the CFO of an amazing, expanding group of Ad Agencies.  I am focused on furthering my career through impactful changes, traveling more, and taking every opportunity to spend time with my family. Plus, we have our very first wedding in the summer! I think I’m keeping my promise of being the best Mother of the Groom, ever.

After all is said and done, what I’m most excited about is being able to spend this year with all of you.
