This Week is My Life
I got a text the other day from my friend, TF, who said – “make sure I’m in charge of your birthday video next year.”
“What?” I asked, surprised. “What video?”
“You know, the videos you make on birthdays that have all your accomplishments? I’m making that video for you next year.”
“Well,” I said, in a response peppered with LOL emojis “It’s going to be short video because all the accomplishments in my life took place in one week.”
And it did.
In a span of three days, there was the People Magazine write up about my co-author’s new venture as a romance writer, and then a BookTrib feature on changing my pen name to my real name. And then…the unexpected award that placed me in the company of 99 other amazing women leaders.
All of them have been my life’s work.
And to have them collide all in one week. Insane. But also, very humbling.
As I write this, I am still responding to all the messages of kind words and support. Some of them – wow. From icons in the creative world that I never imagined would send such uplifting messages.
This is what I’ve been saying about the wheel of life. How the ups and downs come unexpectedly, and how people react differently to you when your wheel is up, and when your wheel is down. It’s an important lesson in humanity. And as long as we recognize it for what it is, we stay the course. We remain filled with gratitude and know that all this, ALL OF THIS, comes from a plan that is out of our hands. We all have our crosses to bear. I have mine, and you have yours. But these moments of success and affirmation don’t come often. And so when they do, lift up your hearts in praise and offer them up to the ONE who is with you through good times and bad.
And remember – your skills, your looks, your smarts – they mean nothing unless you use them to make an impact, change the world.
This is probably the shortest post I have ever written. Because up to this very minute, I remain speechless.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the love and support this week.
