You May Be Wondering….
I wrote the Light in the Wound series in 2014. During that time, the Romance genre was emerging with authors like Colleen Hoover, Tarryn Fisher, SC Stephens, Samantha Towle, etc. I sort of followed that road and wrote a book for that era in the Indie book industry. There is so much more to the story of Isabelle and the influence her mother had on the choices she made in her life. Instead of writing about the dynamics of that relationship, I chose to focus on the two romances she had in her life. 2022 is a different time. I am excited to rewrite this series to include many aspects of my Filipino culture. The romance is still there, but you will meet Claudia her mother in a more personal way.
As for Eight Goodbyes, a Hollywood producer picked up this book and loved it. The arc of the story as I wrote it originally was a little bit dark and again, dedicated to an event that was so close to me in 2017. The times call for a lighter plot and so I changed the story a little bit.
Yes, always. Write for the right reasons and it will always bring you joy.
Only great things! We are well on our way to bringing Moments Like This to the screen, releasing Where the Sun Rises this October 2022 and have already started our third book in the series! Family and work obligations will dictate when the future release of Book 3 will be, but I’m still pushing for 2023!
The Year I Left, which I released in 2019. That book is so real, it scared a lot of people. No one wanted to pick it up because it deals with Depression. But one day, I still believe that book will really resonate with what is in everyone’s hearts. Because of the pandemic and all the craziness going on in the world, it offers a form of escape that readers are not ready to deal with.
All of them! From the Christine Brae side, I love all the women I have written about. Jade from Insipid, Anna from In this Life, Carin from The Year I Left, Isabel from the Light in the Wound. And don’t forget Andie from Moments Like This! All really strong, independent women who handle falling in love in their own special ways.
The Anna Gomez books are lighter because of the brand I started when writing the from Kona with Love series with my co-author, Kristoffer Polaha. There is also no sexy time in any of the Anna Gomez books – but that can change as our series evolves and as new books emerge under the Anna Gomez brand.
